Most garden buildings are made from timber and you only need to look at any shed or fence post to know that they always rot from the ground up.
So when creating a timber garden building it makes perfect sense to avoid placing it on a timber or concrete base that absorbs water or transfers dampness and cold. Otherwise, it will prematurely rot in areas impossible to rectify.
What is building rot?
Rot is the decay of organic substances. It is caused by fungus and refers to the decaying process. The fungus feeds on water and the structure of the wood, breaking it down. If the wood appears to be mushy and flaky then it is rotten.
Rotten wood is pretty much impossible to repair so it is vital to use the correct methods in preventing it to ensure the longevity of the building.
So how do we prevent your garden building from rotting?
At Kingdom Rooms, we use ground screw technology through galvanised steel supports across the whole structure’s base. This allows us to elevate the building and allow air to travel beneath, keeping the building dry which will prevent it from prematurely rotting.
