A garden building can be a big investment, especially if you plan for this to last the test of time.
Kingdom Room’s Andy Young created a CHECKLIST that can help you with the process of buying.
Choose the best location. Not always easy when you may have several location options in your garden. My advice is:
Place beautiful buildings where they can be seen and appreciated.
Choose glass and shading carefully if windows face the sun as you’ll want to avoid it overheating and any need for expensive air con.
A clear space is easier to work with than an area or buildig that needs clearing or removing.
Check out Planning and Building Regs HERE. In most cases it is not needed but you need to be sure as falling fowl of planning rules can be expensive.
How is it Built?. Understanding how a build progresses and how this can affect you and your home is important. Build vary widely but this is HOW WE WORK. Visiting a Show Site and asking to see the actual construction is much more information than a website finished building photo too.
Maintenance. Some buildings need much more maintenance than others but whatever is needed, it’s good to understand what before you buy. OUR MAINTENANCE NEEDS HERE
Costs and Funding. Whilst an advertising cost may appear cheap, be mindful of what this could actually cost you. Many prices are based on a low specification which raises substancially when all options are added. Finance options can be expensive too, so we have cearted FUNDING PAGE with tips and ideas for everyone either employed and self employed.
Guarantee. It’s all in the content with some one year guarantees actually better than a ten year gurantee with lots of exclusions. We have nothing to hide with our GUARANTEE and T&C’s HERE.
Reviews. Check out independant reviews for your supplier, places like GOOGLE and trade bodies such as CHECKATRADE. Ask to speak with previous customers and even visit to see completed builds.
Trade Associations. Suppliers that approved by a trade body often give you the added protection that teh trade body can give. Complaints are usually treated seriously as cowboy tradespeople can be an unwanted liability. Check out reviews for the trade body itself to ensure thay are bonifide.
